4-H Youth Development

4-H helps young people to reach their full potential as competent, confident, leaders of character who contribute and are connected to their communities. We serve kids throughout California in urban, suburban and rural communities. Youth design and participate in their own programs and activities and this unique learn-by-doing model teaches essential skills that they will use throughout their lives, such as identifying sparks, desiring knowledge, setting goals, self-reflection, adapting to new situations, communicating, and responding to the needs of others. Whether they're building rockets, raising companion dogs, or planting vegetables, 4-H gives young people the skills they need to thrive and succeed throughout their lives.

Nutrition and Personal Finance

UCCE's Nutrition, Personal Finance, and Food Safety Education program provides exactly what you'd think. We teach nutrition education for families and youth. We lead San Diego Saves, a local wealth-building initiative. We offer financial literacy curriculum and teacher training. We provide financial tools and information for family caregivers and we train volunteers to prepare food safely at community events. What sets us apart is that ALL programs, curricula, and educational tools are research-based.
