Featured Story

Here at UCCE San Diego we support multiple programs that create sustainable food systems that benefit community health and wellness. Two of these programs are the UC Master Gardener and Healthy Garden-Healthy Home programs.

These programs are a part of hundreds of gardening events throughout San Diego County every single year. Many Master Gardeners volunteer there time to get involved with the community at public urban gardens, school gardens, educational workshops, and big events like the fall Master Gardener Plant Extravaganza and Spring Seminar.

Deeply rooted in the community, our goal is to help create sustainable environments and to educate San Diegan's on how to grow healthy foods that may not be accessible to all.

Our Healthy Garden-Healthy Home program holds a number of free community workshops every year that address topics such as learning to grow a vegetable garden, dealing with common garden pests and diseases, growing herbs, and vertebrate pests.

This year UC Master Gardeners along with our County Director, Laurent Ahiablame will return to The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch to setup our Master Gardener Demonstration Garden and the Ag Water Quality "Water Wise Farming" Exhibit. These demos will be on display and open to the public from March 1st through May 12th. Don't miss your chance to see it!
